John has served as President & CEO of CBC Partners since 2009 focusing on business and capital development.

From French fries to finance, for the last 20 years, he has been in the business of business development.   From product development and sales at Simplot Australia, Pty. Ltd (Melbourne, Australia) to the Directors of Channel Development for the Campbell Soup Company (Camden, NJ), he has opened markets and driven product distribution.  John concurrently serves as a Director at the J.R. Simplot Company (Boise, ID), a global agribusiness and food processing company; Chairman of S-Sixteen, LP (Boise, ID), a real estate holding and investment company; and Chairman of the not-for-profit Washington Policy Center (Seattle, WA), a policy research institute.  John holds a B.A. from the U. of Puget Sound and an MBA from the U. of Washington. He spends his free time enjoying the great outdoors of Washington, Idaho and New Hampshire with his family.

Alan Hallberg

Alan brings over 23 years of diverse commercial banking, fund management and corporate finance experience, with particular emphasis on due diligence, senior and subordinated lending, and capital raising.

Alan began his lending career at The Bank of New York, where he managed a $1.5 billion portfolio of corporate borrowing clients.  Following his tenure at BNY, Alan relocated to the Pacific Northwest, where he continued his banking career at Bank of America.  While at BofA, Alan focused his efforts on lending to Seattle-area middle market companies, building his portfolio to approximately $75 million.

Prior to CBC Partners, Alan held executive positions directing M&A due diligence and execution for a private company controlled by Craig McCaw’s Eagle River investment firm; headed corporate and international development for a publicly-traded fixed wireless company in the Seattle area; and led the business development efforts to stabilize a high profile media and communications project in Seattle.

Beginning in 2007 and continuing to the present, Alan has been CBC's Chief Credit Officer and has enjoyed aiding a multitude of companies through their journey.

Alan is a co-founder and board director of a FINRA-registered securities broker/dealer and holds the following securities licenses: Series 24, 28, 7 and 63.  He also holds a B.S. from Georgetown University and attended graduate courses at NYU's Stern School of Business.


James Rulfs

Jim has an extensive career as a managing principal in a variety of industries including mobile telecommunications, manufacturing technology, medicine, and entertainment. He was a founder of the social media agency The Cause Media Group and has developed and managed several medical research and medical service organizations in association with the Ohio State University. 

He is currently a licensed investment banker, maintaining his license in Manhattan, and was a founding officer in the Forbes Private Capital Group in New York and Liberty Pacific Capital in Seattle.

 Jim’s professional practice and client base extends into China, focusing on intellectual property, capital formation and cross-border joint ventures.  He represents both publicly traded and government owned corporations.  He holds an appointment as an economic and financial advisor to the City of Tianjin, China.
